We have had a busy summer session here at the WATER office with the addition of three new interns. Hailing from Dominican University, Boston University School of Theology, Tufts University, and Princeton Theological Seminary, these women have gifted the WATER office with a wonderful array of skills, interests, and experiences in feminist religious discourse.

Cathy Jaskey
Cathy Jaskey is a year-long staff associate through the Loretto Volunteer Program. Cathy is so happy to feel so welcomed into the WATER community. She graduated from Dominican University in River Forest, IL in 2013 with a double major in Theology and Pastoral Ministry with a minor in the Study of Women and Gender. WATER has been a wonderful place to grow and explore the intersections of religions, feminisms, and activism. Cathy loves DC and living in community with four hilarious housemates. She is looking forward to staying at WATER for a second year beginning in September.
Melody Stanford
Melody Stanford is a current MDiv student at Boston University with an interest in postcolonial feminist theology and spiritual-collaborative activism. She graduated from Wheaton College (IL) in 2007 with a dual degree in business/economics and Bible/theology. She worked in business and marketing for several years, developing a freelance graphic design business. Concurrent to her graduate studies today, she works with non-profits on a wide range of consulting and branding projects. She was recently invited by the Mission Institute at Episcopal Divinity School to teach a series of workshops on creating effective websites for churches. Melody is thrilled to be working with the amazing women at WATER. During her internship she is working on several projects that further her interests in melding technology and feminist theology. Outside academic and vocational pursuits, Melody enjoys music and songwriting, learning photography, dancing, and the great outdoors.
Jacqueline Small
Jacqueline Small is a 2013 graduate of Swarthmore College, where she majored in Sociology/Anthropology and minored in Linguistics and Religion, and she is about to start her second year in the M. Div program at Princeton Theological Seminary. She is is very excited by the opportunities presented by feminist biblical interpretation, and particularly interested in the interplay between religion and gender-based violence, especially the ways that faith can be used to help or harm abuse survivors. She’s been enjoying the chance to explore WATER’s library and academic resources, and loves being in such a feminist, collaborative, and warm work environment. When she isn’t at work or busy with school, Jacqueline likes to knit, travel, read novels, and spend time with little kids.
Ciara Chivers
Ciara just graduated from Tufts University with a double major in Religion and Peace & Justice Studies. After a formative experience in Feminist Theologies, Ciara channeled her energy into the intersectional study of gender, race, sexuality, and religion. She is especially interested in critical pedagogies, sexuality education, and reproductive justice. Ciara came to WATER to explore the vocational dimensions of feminist methodologies to actualize sustainable frameworks for social change. When she’s not spending her days with the wonderful women of WATER, Ciara loves to hike, revamp thrift store finds, and explore bookstores.
