Retired minister Brad Lutz led the December WATERmeditation which was a thoughtful reflection on “Waiting” as befits the season in the Christian calendar. All of us in the Northern Hemisphere await the return of light, while our friends in the Southern Hemisphere move into the fullness of summer. Thanks to Brad for his insights and generous sharing.
Brad was so kind as to send the following notes from his remarks. He provided us with this impressive image and the following poem:
“Life will bloom when it is ready” by Vic Lejon:
I keep pulling
on my roots
urging them to grow
impatient for the bloom
and the sunshine
and the growth
but it doesn’t work like that
tears flow, soil drenches and dries
there have to be some slower days
some rainfall, even snow
—life will bloom when it is ready”
A book mentioned in the session was Circle of Grace: A Book of Blessings for the Seasons by Jan Richardson.
Conversation following the meditation was, per usual, rich and varied. One person spoke of trying to bracket her fear while awaiting medical treatment, reasoning that she could do nothing about certain things while she waited, so why worry! Another person reflected on the strength it takes to wait, while yet another put waiting in the realm of God’s time.
We thank all who participated and welcome people to go to the video to benefit from this rich offering.
Our next WATERmeditation will be on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 7:30 PM ET when Virginia Day will lead us with “A Blessing for the New Year.” All are welcome.
WATER wishes you a delightful holiday season. Celebrate as you will, but celebrate!
