WATER joins countless friends and colleagues in mourning the death and rejoicing in the life of John J. McNeill. He died on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.

John was a pioneering out gay Jesuit priest, scholar, therapist, activist, and beloved friend. His book, THE CHURCH AND THE HOMOSEXUAL, launched new conversations in religion that inspired people to see the beauty and holiness of same-sex love.

May his example of boundless goodness, unshakeable integrity, and and deep faith bless us all. Our special love extends to his dear partner Charles Chiarelli.
